Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potentaal in Infants below 6 Months of Age

Abstract
A particulary important application of brainstem auditory evoked potential(BAEP) test is screening of haring impairment in infants. For audiologic aspect of the test at least two intensities are usually employed at sensation level of 30(or 40) dB
and
60(or 70 dB). In this study BAEP were recorded from scaip electrode in infants ranging from 2 weeks to 6 months of age at 30 and 70dB intensities. The wave I, III, V are always recorded in all subjects. Were V, evoked by 30dB sensation level
clicks,
changed in latency from 7.32 msec at 1 month of age to 6.73 msec at 6 month of age. And wave V, evoked by 70 dB sensation level clicks from 6.72 msec at 1 month of age to 6.05 msec of 6 month of age. Therefore we conclude that the mean altencies
of
various potential components decreased with increament of age and became significantly shorter at sensation level of dB click stimulation than 30 dB click stimulation.
